Ravelry Realization...

I've been looking and looking (online) for a super bulky yarn for this vest I want to make.

And I've decided that there are very few people who write positive posts comments about yarn.  Nearly every single yarn I've looked at has at least 75% bad comments about it on Ravelry.  For the number of projects with each yarn, there have to be more satisfied customers than not, right?

Re: Ravelry Realization...

  • I agree with you wholeheartedly. People never come back to leave good reviews - anywhere. I love Madelinetosh DK (single ply) and half of the reviews for that yarn are about how horrible it is and it keeps on splitting, etc, etc.

Maybe I'm new at this but I find that all yarns split at some point in my work.  I guess I'm just not opinionated enough about it.

  • I find that people are more likely to give positive yarn reviews in their project notes.  Yes, it's one more step to find the information, but people seem to enjoy complaining a lot more than saying anything positive.

Good to know.  Thanks!  I was kind of at the "not EVERY yarn can suck this much, right?!?!" mind set and was about to give up on using ravelry for yarn reveiws.

  • What about the stuff from woolandthegange.com ?

Since you obviously knit, is there a basic pattern that you would recommend to me? I was thinking a very simple hat.
