Low Laying placenta -not me my BFF

My BFF is 5mths pregnant with her 3rd child and she went in for a ultrasound and they told her that she has a low laying placenta. They are going to check it out again in a few weeks with another ultrasound. They said if it doesnt move? She will have to have a c-section. Any one have info I can pass on to her?

Re: Low Laying placenta -not me my BFF

  • More often then not, the placenta moves up on its own and can go on to a normal vaginal delivery. I had a low-lying placenta with Taryn, found at 19 weeks,  and it had moved up by 23 weeks.

If it doesn't move, then c-section is obviously the way to go because you don't want the placenta to come out before the baby.

  • She may also experience a little more spotting after exercise/intercourse, than if it was higher up.

  • Isn't that also called placenta previa? Or can lead to it sometimes?
