So, I have a mentor at work that I really love. She has been really helpful this year with making sure that I find my place in the department, gives me great advice for work-related issues, and has been really great in helping me choose an OB and general pregnancy issues. I want to do something nice for her. I was thinking of making a cross-stitch anatomically correct heart (don't laugh) because I found an adaptable pattern for it, and she expressed interest in a similar (non cross-stitch) picture in someone else's office. Is this totally dorky? I could just get her a restaurant gift certificate or something, but I want to do something that would be more lasting.

We, we like to party.
Re: Is this silly?
The fact that they're physicians makes it totally not weird.
One of my cohort students gave my graduate mentor a 6 ft long handmade fabric model of the large intestine, complete with detachable polyp. Seems totally appropriate to me.

This is freaking awesome.
It might be weird to give someone a random picture of a heart, but they're basically our livelihood, so it's not strange from that standpoint. I'm just totally awkward at expressing emotion, and I didn't want to do something that would be inappropriate. And I need to start it now if I want to give it to her before I leave.
Holy crap, blast from the past!
