thrush

Isla was given meds to treat a mild case of thrush.  As I look online, it looks like I should be treated too since I'm nursing.  Is there anything OTC I can do since it's the weekend?

Re: thrush

  • Gentian violet, but Diflucan was the only thing that has ever worked for me (thrush and regular yeast infections). Personally, I would call the on-call doctor to call you in some, but only because I know it was the only thing that works for me, and it works very fast).

It sounds like that may be one of the reason your breasts hurt; thrush can be painful (it sure was for me!).

  • I did gentian violet + diflucan.  I would think the gentian violet (ask at the pharmacy counter) would hold things off till the weekend is over.  The diflucan helps once the yeast is in the duct.
  • Thanks ladies!  I called my OB's office and they put me on Diflucan and some kind of cream.  If this really makes the pain go away, that would be awesome!  E never had a good latch, so nursing was always painful, I just assumed that it was the same this time around.  Nursing without pain would be fantastic!
