I have an interview at a large hospital in the next week. The HR manager that I spoke with specifically said, you should be prepared to walk up to a mile from start to end of the interview. The HR office is one block from the in-patient part of the hospital, where part of the interview will be held. So, what type of shoes would you wear? 3-4 inch heels are NOT an option.
Another old nestie with a new name.

Don't drink the water.

I work in a large hospital where I am often walking long distances each day to get to the inpatient floors, also.
I would wear rubber soled wedge shoes or nice ballet-type flats. There are nice ones out there that look dressy.
That's what I wear on a daily basis as well as most of the administrative people.
This.
I've definitely gotten my $20 worth from these shoes. I wear them with dress pants or jeans. They aren't the prettiest, but are really comfortable and great for walking long distances or when it's not great weather.

Buy some Naturalizer 2" heels--they have a variety of styles, so choose a conservative pair you like. Extremely comfortable and easy to walk in.
If you check out the Corprette blog they have a whole list of suggestions.
