Last week I interviewed twice for a position that was looking for an immediate direct hire. On Wednesday I was offered an immediate start date of Thursday and my performance would be evaluated on Friday. On Friday after work and being told by my new boss that she would see me on Tuesday, I got a phone call from her a couple hours later, telling me I did not need to show up for work on Tuesday because they were going to continue looking for new candidates. WTH. She then told me that I was still their number one candidate, but some other candidates had shown significant interest. She asked if I would be willing to come back if these other candidates did not work out.
Obviously I've seen the true colors of this company, and I was nice and told my boss I would interested in the job if the other candidates did not work out, but I could not promise I would be available if the position was offered a second time around. I'm angry with how I was treated, and will not accept employment with this company a second time around if it's offered.

Wow.. that really sucks. I'm sorry. Like you said, at least you know their true colors.
May I ask what field of work this was in?
It was as an admin assistant. But the position also wanted you to do some budget and auditing finances.

WTH does that mean? If you're their number one candidate, then why should other people matter? Not to sound rude, I know there are a lot of people out there who really need jobs, but being number one, means being the best and that you are wanted by this company. That's bull, I'm sorry!
