Wow...

My friend's dad just sold this house:

For $22.6 million!!!! Holy cow. Deal, NJ is just a town over from where I grew up and was one of our favorite places to go look at houses. Of course, we usually couldn't see much past their gates, but it was fun to imagine what they looked like inside.

Re: Wow...

  • I've probably passed that a million times...I'm always driving over there! It's like 10 minutes from me. All the homes over there are massive. H always wonders what types of jobs these people have that they can actually afford to buy something like that. (this is why we live in an apt). And I'd call it a compound, not a house. :)
  • It was bought by Jeff Sutton, an NYC real estate mogul. He owns I think 115 properties in the NYC area, including  717 Fifth Ave., now leased by Giorgio Armani as its flagship store; 609 Fifth Ave., home to American Girl Place; 720 Fifth Ave., home to Abercrombie & Fitch; and an American Eagle Outfitter?s at 1551 Broadway in Times Square, according to his website. He also own the buildings that house American Eagle?s flagship store at 40 W. 34th St., across from Macy?s.

  • I can't imagine selling my house for 22 million dollars, let alone buying something that costs that much!

Damn, that's a lot of properties that he owns. Oh a fun fact, Billy Joel's former home is on one of the streets adjacent to the compound. Part of the outside looks like piano keys. :)

  • Ok, it seems kind of crazy to me that a house that is that huge would only have 7 bedrooms.  Either way, I would never need that many rooms, but I would LOOOOOVE to have a house like that.

Geez, what is the commission on a 22.6M sale??  That must be the life!

  • Holy moly....that house is gorgeous!!! I would never need a house that big, but I wouldn't mind it either.

  • That house is massive. I wouldn't even know what to do with all the space. My little 3 bedroom 2 bath house isn't even completely furnished yet. The thing that did pop into my head when I saw all that space was, "Horses!!" I would definitely build a small stable to complete my dream of owning horses one day.

  • That house is insane!!!  I sure hope he can afford to pay a cleaning lady to keep up with all the work ;-)
  • Ummm, holy crap that house is insane! Haha!

  • haha that's massive!

There was a house in our area that went into foreclosure and was up for auction - cash only all upfront. It was about a 20 million dollar home that was about to close at auction price of 300,00!!!!!! The person buying it had all the cash though. How nuts is that?
