Feelin' kinda dumb, lol

So I went out with DH today for a few hours to walk around at some stores, and also so he could look at some new boots and camping stuff. We were out walking around for quite a long time, like 3 hours, and by the time we left cabela's we were both FAMISHED. I knew that anything I made at home would take like an hour before it was done and I was already getting the low blood sugar symptoms, so my answer was "Why don't we go to Jack in the Box and just have one Jumbo Jack apiece?" I seriously thought I remembered them being lower in calories than most other burger places, so I thought I was being smart. Come to find out, I'd just scarfed down 600 calories in that little burger, a little under half my daily calories! And i'm still hungry, lol! I'm glad that we walked for such a long time today so it won't impact my diet much, but I feel stupid. I KNOW better than to just eat something without double checking the nutrition facts first. Oh well, live and learn I guess. :P

  • Did you enjoy eating it at least?? I love Jack in the box's jalapeno poppers. My mouth just waters thinking about them. YUM! I don't bother looking at how many calories they have because then I'd feel super guilty eating them.

  • Yes, I enjoyed it! It was the first fast food burger i've had in at least 2 weeks, because now that i'm eating healthier those were the first things to go. But I love them so! :P Oh well, I guess today will be considered my "cheat day". Considering i've already lost 5 pounds, it won't kill me to be a little over on calories just once.

  • Don't feel dumb at all!  It was a mistake made with the best of intentions.  Don't beat yourself up over it.  It's a perfect cheat meal, then you can get back to your regular diet tomorrow.
  • I did the same thing the other day!! I was grabbing Wendy's baked potatoes to go with this veggie casserole for dinner, and we ended up just eating the potatoes. I thought then I could eat a decent size snack later that night, but once I logged it, it had 350 calories! I was thinking in the range of 250... boooo

  • In the future if you want to cheat a teeny tiny bit, Taco Bell normal crunchy or soft shell tacos are calories for a crunchy taco and 200 for a soft taco (these are regular not supreme though).

This is what H and I did if we needed something really fast on our diet, and it didn't affect us badly at all.

  • Congrats on the 5 pound loss! Don't worry if you go over your calories once in a while, it won't hurt your diet. If it makes you feel better I just came home from Wendy's and ate about 2/3 of my daily calories. I wanted a burger and a small chocolate shake. DH and I shared a medium fry. It was so good. Once a week I allow myself to eat one meal that I eat whatever I want. It helps me behave during week to know I get 1 cheat meal during the weekend.
  • Yeah, i'm not really beating myself up over it, but I just feel dumb for not CHECKING first. We only had 3 dollars to spend so it had to be something really cheap, but man that was an expensive hit on my calories for the night, lol! I'm back on track for today though, I was just laughing at my own stupid mistake. :P
