3 Random Things (mini vents)

Random #1: XH called and left a voicemail asking me if I saw the football game and whether I subjected to DS to watching it as well.

Let's count the issues with this:

1. He's only supposed to contact me via email and about DS only.

2. He claims he calls to "talk" to DS, and not me, but DS has been in bed for an hour already.

3. We don't have the TV on very often, and when it is, DS and I don't sit and watch it.

4. WE'RE DIVORCED.  STOP CONTACTING ME.

Random item #2:  If I had a dollar for every time I hear a friend say "I have a guy I want to set you up with", I'd have like $8. (which feels like alot since I've only been divorced for 5 months.)  None of these ever pan out to actual dates however.  C'mon friends!  You get my hopes up and then I never hear anything more.  Does this happen to you?

Random item #3:  Working 60 hours per week while being a full time parent by myself sucks sometimes.  I'm sooo tired....

Re: 3 Random Things (mini vents)

  • If your DS is with you when he calls, don't answer.  Problem solved.

I don't understand why you girls let your X's subject you this crap.  It's almost like you like it or want it to happen.  For him to talk to you, you have to pick up the phone.  Quit picking up the freckin phone and then biitchin about him calling you.

You did see that OP wrote that he left a v/m, right?

  • Why are people so harsh on this message board?

Maybe I'm too sensitive.  Shoot me.

I am a member on many other boards and I never see this type of thing anywhere else.  Everyone is obviously entitled to their own opinion but it reminds me of the old saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say....".

Nope, I didn't.  Reading comprehension fail.  But even still, it happens all the time around here and still the girls complain about their X calling.  It's like training a dog.  You don't reward a dog for bad behavior.  So stop picking up the phone, and eventually the dog will leave you alone.

I don't pick up the phone when he calls.  I have spoken with legal counsel, law enforcement, and psychology professionals about how to handle coparenting with an alcoholic sociopath who isn't able to be "trained" like a normal "dog".  Rules, law, guidelines, directions all don't matter to someone like him.  Law enforcement has instructed him directly not to contact me or charges will be filed.

ETA:  That's why it's called a vent!  Sheesh!

No kidding... it's usually not like this.  Something must be in the air tonight.

  • 1- that's really, really annoying. I am SO glad I don't have kids with XH, because OMG, he was like this for months after, always claiming to want to talk about the DOGS! It's totally just a getting under your skin thing, seeing how far he can push the boundaries. Sorry :(

2- 8 is a lot of times for as long as you've been divorced, but yeah, it would be nice if any of these "he's perfect for you!" ever lasted longer than one conversation with a friend

3- 60 hours is a lot, even without being a single parent. You deserve a break!

Meh.  The internet is not a nice place.  Anonymity (sp?) tends to bring out the worst in people.  This is one of the more "puppies and rainbows!!!!" boards on TN, as it is, so if you think this is bad, don't ever venture over to ML, RE, TIP, or FM.

Thanks for the warning -- I'll stay put ;)

  • Yeah, if you are whining about internet people being mean over the comments on this thread, you are being sensitive.
  • I guess I am okay with being sensitive given the alternative.

    PS I don't "whine".
