So we met with an allergist and got testing done. Eggs, Peaches, Grass, Ragweed and Trees!! The last 3 are seasonal allergies basically, so I am not too worried for them.
Peaches I had a feeling because in November he flaired up after a Gerber Oatmeal and Peaches meal and fruit cup.
EGGS?!?! He had eggs yesterday with no reaction, doctor said its not life threatening more of an intolerance that in large quantities he will react and not in small amounts. He had no rash yesterday, as it finally cleared Tuesday. (After 14 full days of rash/hives)
So there still is something else too, we go back in March and will bring more things if we see them. At least we got some answers though I don't feel the 2 weeks of hives were from eggs, so the search continues.
I LOVE the allergis we went to, which is great, he was awesome with J and containing him for 2.5 hours is no easy task. He just started up in Westchester, he is director of allergies at Jacobi and teaches down at Einstein.
Re: Hives/Rash Update
Had he eaten any of those things prior to the initial onset?
did he have a flu shot? i think i've heard that if your allergic to eggs you will have an allergic reactionto the flu shot. not sure if thats true or not though. glad you got a few answers though!
No FLU shot this year. and MMR was in November. Dr said could have been a cross contamination of fruit from the GTG on Tuesday because I got him a fruit platter.
Who knows.. I will be making lists and extra aware of new foods now. He said not to really change his diet, he can still eat very well done scrambled eggs, just not raw or barely cooked (like buffet eggs at places). But if reaction gets worse then we'll talk about cutting out eggs 100%. For now the eggs that are in other foods are so small that it won't be an issue. But we are to avoid Peaches 100% because that rash last night was immediate and all over his face and body within minutes.
