UGH This process is long, painful and irritating!

We found our dream home in November and are still jumping hurdles to get to closing. Anyone else having issues?

Re: UGH This process is long, painful and irritating!

  • I'm not that far along in the process, but this is what I'm dreading most. I think a lot of people are having these problems. Anything you would have done differently leading up to this point to lessen the pain and irritation?
  • For us the process only took about two months and it was enough for me to want to stay in this house forever. I'm so glad the house that we bought has the potential to be a forever home, because the home buying process is wayyy too stressful for me to willingly repeat.
  • It is *incredibly* stressful.

I'm about to go through the process again as we put another offer on an investement property last week.  When we went through it last February, I vowed that the next house would be a cash deal because trying to get a mortgage is ridiculous.  But alas, here we go again.

Hopefully our next house will be a cash deal.

  • We bought a short sale house and it took us 8 months to get approval and close. I never want to sell or buy another house again...

Don't let the experience of a SS color your view on buying/selling--they are unlike any other purchase and time is just a part of that "package."  Traditional sales with conventional loans are much easier (we have always closed in 30 days or less).

  • Yup. We accepted an offer on our house in November with a close date at the end of this month. It has taken forfreakingever.

Selling and buying at the same time is so stressful.

  • YES! We signed our contract end of October hoping to be in by the end of the year. We then got pushed back to last Friday. We haven't closed yet and we are hoping (*fingers crossed*) that we will be in by the end of the month...It seems so exciting at first, looking at houses, thinking how you're going to decorate, and then things get stalled...Hopefully it will still be exciting when we move in because right now I almost don't want the house anymore.
  • We also entered contract in October and we are still waiting for the close date.  Our rental is up at the end of the month and the stress is wreaking havoc on my intestines.  I am not made for this stress!
