In the middle of the night, what do you all use instead of flipping on the whole light? Just a regular lamp? A night light?
Just wondering.
Thanks!
Re: Light in the baby room
I have a mini lamp that I use for feedings right before bed, book reading and only turn on in the middle of the night for massive dirty diaper clean up. Then we have a small night light (its a glass goose-think nursery rhyme that my brother and I used when we were babies) that sits on her dresser. It just uses the little night light bulbs. It's great though because we can go in her room and check on her and I can see to nurse and change her in the middle of the night, etc without lighting the place up. And it's on her dresser to it's light is cast about vs a plug in on the wall.
Check out hobby lobby to see what they have. They had tons of options when we were looking. And for a great price.
What that enough light? I have a friend that makes these but not necessarily for night lights....I was thinking of having her make me one but was skeptical on how much light they provide.
My friend actually makes stained glass night lights. I know that sounds old lady-ish, but this is Amelie's night light:
and this one is Owen's:
She makes them whatever you want. Not sure what she charges but she has a facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Serendipity-Stained-Glass/103412613089376
She can make pretty much anything you want. She's really talented. It's the perfect amount of light for us to nurse, do a quick diaper change, etc, but not enough to bother her, wake her up, etc.
This is what we did/do. We also used to use the angelcare monitor's halo as a night light until he started noticing it more. Now I just leave the hall light on and leave his door open to nurse. If I need to change a diaper, I will turn the lamp on.

I think this would be a really neat idea. We just had a nightlight or small accent lamp in the boys room.
Holy cow, we're going to have a little sister!!
ETA: duplicate...computer is freaking out.
it was for us and ours was orange lighting because it was a lancer fan made. also depends on where you put it
Well, if your like me and the baby still doesn't sleep in his crib you don't need one.
He did take 2 naps this weekend in his crib, it's a start.
We have a night light in each of the kid's rooms and a lamp that is wired to a seperate switch than the ceiling fan/light.
We try not to change diapers during the night unless it's poopy. I would feed E in the dark with just the night light then put her back to bed.
