Sewing machine 'problem'

I have a 6 year old Kenmore that runs like a dream, never had problems with it (knock on wood).  It's squeaking when I sew now.  I opened the door to see what might need a little grease but the squeaking stopped!  It only happens when the door is closed...which confuses me, there don't seem to be any parts that would rub the door.

Anyone else had this problem?  I've never really had to troubleshoot so I don't know where to even start!

Re: Sewing machine 'problem'

  • When was the last time you oiled it?

Granted, I don't know newer machines that well.  My new machine tells me not to oil it.  But, for my older machines, I sometimes open them up and oil anything that moves.

  • Clean ,oil, change the bobbin and needle. If its still acting weird try to track down the noise. Also check the face plate, make sure its screwed down tight. :) If all else fails, it might be time for a tune up.
