Can we discuss Governor Perry's remarks?
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.
Re: Can we discuss Governor Perry's remarks?
" Perry recalled how World War II era US general George Patton famously urinated in the Rhine river during his troops' march into Nazi Germany, and, "although there's not a picture, (British prime minister Winston) Churchill did the same thing on the Siegfried Line" to show contempt for the Nazis."
Can he really not see the difference in peeing in a river/geographical defensive line and urinating on corpses?! I miss Huntsman for you Republicans already. I've been horrified, again and again, at what people are saying about this video. About how the Taliban deserve it, etc. What the hell kind of Lord of the Flies world are we living in where so many Americans are justifying this behavior?!
I interpreted that as "Give them a slap on the wrist. Someone else that everyone likes did it, so that makes it right"......
I thought that as Americans we wanted to be leaders, to show the world how what we do is such a good thing and worthy of emulation. It's important not to lose sight of that.
Exactly. And this photo is now recruitment. These Marines are back home in North Carolina while their brothers are in Afghanistan. So really Governor Perry? The President hates service members? How about we punish people (including other service members) who put them in danger? And do you REALLY think you know better than the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps?!
I had a sad this morning when I read about Huntsman.
Perry is the Yosemite Sam of the GOP.
I see what he's trying to say but he's completely bumbling it as usual. He should have said something along the lines of these men being mentally drained and probably not thinking clearly (which they obviously weren't since they let themselves be filmed while urinating on a dead body) and they should be punished within the limits of the law but also receive help instead of just being tossed in jail. Comparing this to whatever other people may or may not have done doesn't make it right though.
This makes me so mad. SO mad.
totally not a problem. The American public doesnt care about the enemy Muslims, so the whole issue is moot. Its "us" in the one example, and "them" in the other. We all know they're less than human.
(/sarcasm based on people's responses to articles about this)
I changed my name
This is what makes me so sick to my stomach about it, that there are people out there who actually think this way. Human dignity seems lost on the general American public.
