Internet/Cable Recs

Just wondering who everyone uses for the net and cable?

Re: Internet/Cable Recs

  • WOW (Wide Open West)

We've had them for 6 yrs & LOVE them.  Just had someone from AT&T come & try to get us to switch & the gal could tell from DH's talking that we weren't going to switch.  Never had a problem, always good customer service, etc.

I know they're not in all areas of Detroit, that's the bummer.

  • We have Comcast.  And I HATE them.  They technicians never seem to know what they are doing.  More often then not I have to call up a friend who works in a Comcast office and he has to get me all straightened out when I have a problem, because he actually knows what he is doing.  And their prices are horrible after the introduction.  But unforuntately for us, we dont get any other service in our area, no WOW and no AT&T.  So we are kind of stuck.

Thanks for the info ladies.  I will for sure look into WOW.

Sassy- I kinda thought Comcast was the anti-christ from what I have heard from other people. :)  Thanks for reaffirming my suspicions.

  • We currently have Brighthouse because that was the only other option other than Dish for where we live.

It's ok.  The on screen menus are a bit outdated and they don't have total home DVR.  We used to have AT&T at our old placed and loved it so anything other than AT&T was a downgrade in our opinion.

Agreed.  Comcast sucked.  We had them 2 companies ago and they were awful.  The on screen guides would constantly freeze, the customer service was atrocious, and a few other things.  We will never go back to comcast.

  • We are dumping Comcast because they hiked up our bill $70 after 6 months!  While I love their on demand (it's huge!) we are going with AT&T for much much much less $$$$

  • We have had WOW and AT&T uverse and had good experiences with both of them. WOW has great customer service and their prices always stay the same which is nice. We have since canceled our cable and we just go with the antenna, but if you want the whole digital/DVR package we were pretty impressed w/Uverse. We still have internet through AT&T.

Definitely stay away from Comcast, we had them years ago and our bill was different every month, I was constantly having to call them and they would give me random credits, it was so confusing I had no idea what the normal bill was supposed to be.

  • Since you'll be in RO, get WOW.  Definitely cheaper, and much better customer services.

  • We have Comcast because we have the cheapest/basic package. We're paying $30/month for internet & basic cable. We're not home enough to watch a lot of TV, but when we are, there are a lot of shows on ABC, NBC, CBS, etc. However, my parents have always hated Comcast's customer service, and I couldn't agree more. This is only because the $30/month is for 12 months - and we're leasing an apartment that we're probably leaving after the 12 months anyway.

  • We had WOW at our old place in Dearborn for 5+ years, never had one problem w/ them. We would have definitely gotten them at our new place too, but they don't service our area. We're stuck w/ Comcast. Angry

  • We have WOW, love them!  We did switch to Comcast for a few months but it was a horrible experience we went right back to WOW and won't be switching again.  WOW has Whole Home DVR service coming out in February.  I can't wait for that.
  • We have Comcast and hate them.  From all the positive posts for WOW, we may need to look into switching!
  • Thank you so much ladies for the recommendations.  I will for sure be looking into WOW and its good to know they are about to come out with DVR in February.

  • I too hated Comcast when we lived in Colorado but when we moved here and our only option for the first year was Brighthouse I would've done anything to have Comcast back.  Brighthouse is TERRIBLE!  Their cable freezes, HD channels are unavailable half the time even though you subscribe and their customer service is awful.  It's impossible to get an appointment any sooner than 4-6 weeks out even for something as simple as we need a jack activated or our cable box is malfunctioning and there's an error message.  Awful.
