shore excursions...worth it or should we venture out on our own?

DH and I are cruising on Royal Caribbean next month on the Adventure of the Seas to the Caribbean. We have never been to any of the ports before. Any advice on what to do or what to skip?
Thanks!

  • What are your ports of call?

  • If you go with the cruise line you will pay more but if something happens & you are running late, the ship will not leave without you.  To some that peace of mind is worth the extra money.

If you book independently you can save money & get a better / smaller tour IMHO.  You are responsible for getting back to the ship on time.

If you are otherwise experienced travelers, you can book on your own. If you have never really traveled, be safe & go with the cruise line this time.

  • We tend to book thru the ship if we are doing an excursion that we have never done before, and venture out on our own when doing something that we have tried and loved. I have been on that ship before - you will have a great time!
