Eaters 38 Essential Seattle Restaurants
Re: Eaters 38 Essential Seattle Restaurants
Places from the list that I love:
Elemental, Mistral Kitchen, Pike Street Fish Fry, Quinn's, Salumi, Tamarind Tree, Ezell's (although there's a bit of drama with Ezell's and one of their former owners just started his own chicken place that's supposed to be better than Ezells and I really want to try that now)
Not a fan of:
Sitka and Spruce, Matt's in the Market
Really, really want to try:
Walrus and Carpenter
And, this is super first world problems of me to say, but I used to be a huge Tom Douglas fan, but his restaurants just don't excite me any more. I'm over it now.
H has been to Serious Pie and wasn't impressed (though he's kind of a pizza snob)
I've been to Ezell's - it is pretty darn good. plus they have Faygo (a Michigan-based soda company)
I've been to: Serious Pie, Spring Hill Restaurant and Bar, Steelhead Diner, and Le Pichet. I'd recommend all of them!
I want to go to: Mistral Kitchen, Canlis, Matt's In the Market.
BFP 1/22/12 | Ectopic pregnancy found 2/14/12 | Methotrexate to complete m/c 2/15/12
Thanks ladies - looking forward to what everyone has to say.
We're going to eat our way through these restaurants as my 30th birthday challenge. Unfortunately there aren't 30 weeks until my birthday, so we're giving ourselves all of 2012 to get through them.
This sounds like so much fun! When do you turn 30?
May 26th.
Will you keep us updated on how this goes? I'm really interested in hearing about this.
Absolutely. I've been thinking about blogging it. Maybe I should.
DH and I are also trying to get reservations at two restaurants in Russia that are on the top 100 restaurants in the world list.
Been to: Mistral Kitchen, Revel, Salumi, Serious Pie, Lecosho, Poppy, Canlis, Ezell's, Le Carta de Oaxaca, Mike's Noodle House, Delancey
Liked: Mistral Kitchen, Revel, Lecosho, Canlis, Mike's Noodle House
Want to Try: Elemental, Quinn's Pub, Spinasse, Spring Hill, Spur, The Walrus and the Carpenter, Art of the Table, Le Pichet, How to Cook a Wolf, Maneki
The problem with Elemental and Art of the Table is that the first is you eat what they have and the second is it's prix fixe for a small set of people and so substitutions are harder. When your DH does not eat seafood in the PNW this is a problem.
Do they not ask for allergies when you make the reservation?
Only family style place we've been is the new Belle Clementine in Ballard and they asked ahead of time if there were any allergies. My DH is allergic to halibut so we have to be careful.
I know Elemental does and they ask again when you're seated.
Which places have you been to? Would you recommend the place?
Brave Horse Tavern and Steelhead Diner, I would recommend both places for brunch, I haven't eaten dinner at either spot yet.
Which places have you wanted to try?
Mistral Kitchen, you guys keep talking about it, and I really want to try it too.

Seattle Knotties: Please page me if you send me a PM!
They do, but the options there are too limited and Phred is very persnickety so a blanket no on all seafood would not go over well most likely.
