QOTD

Do you buy all brand names or generic/store brands?

I used to buy only brand names for everything, but then I realized, as I got older that they are all the same thing, so I buy a mixture of a both.

Re: QOTD

  • I buy name brand for some things and then generic for others, Like here is a stupid thing, I won't buy TP other than name brand.

Jerry is so TP picky.  He likes Costco brand and angel soft.  That's about it.

I buy mostly store brand, unless I can get name brand cheaper with a coupon.  There are some things I'll only buy name brand though, like toothpaste and tampons.

  • We do a mix of both. Nick convinced me it's the same thing. Most hygiene products I do brand name (lotions, pads/tampons/toothpaste/mouthwash/toilet paper) but other stuff I don't mind, like body wash and hand soap. Some food things do taste different to me - like when I drank soda, I thing generic tastes different.

  • I buy mostly store brand.  Wegmans has contracts with "real" companies who make their products.  For example, their specialty dressings are made my Marzetti. Some things have to be the real brand though...Heinz ketchup is a must! Hygiene products I buy name brand...although a lot of it is cheap Suave.

  • Usually store brand, but sometimes the name brand is on sale so the price is equal, then I go with that one. Although I do go name brand and buy Kleenex. I'm super picky about having soft tissues around. With most other stuff I don't notice any difference.

  • We buy a mix.  A few things we buy brand name (like tampons, deodorant, baby food) or we buy brand name if the cost is close to the generic.
