Babymoon hotel recs on the south end of Maui

We are going to Maui with friends and staying in Kihei at their family condo, sleeping on the sofa bed. Since it is our last vacay before the baby comes, we want to get away for a few nights alone. We are sharing our car rental, we would like it to be close-ish to them. Any suggestions?? TIA.

  • We stayed at the Marriott Wailea in October and really enjoyed it.  There is not a sand beach front directly in front of the hotel, but there are public beaches on either side of the hotel.  The adults only infinity pool was my favorite thing about the hotel.  We rented an overwater cabana at the pool most days and loved it.  There are not too many restaurant options around Wailea, but there is a mall right beside the Marriott parking lot that would offer a handful of options if you don't have a car.
  • We stayed in South Maui for our honeymoon, 6 years ago.  We stayed at the Maui Prince Hotel and were very happy with our stay.  It has since changed names and is now called The Makena Beach & Golf Resort.  Their website is www.makenaresortmaui.com
