Top Chef, anyone? *Spoilers, I'm sure*

Who watched this week?

I feel that Beverly would probably drive me bonkers too - she's SO timid. But cripes, those women are mean to her.  Sarah and Lindsay?  I just have no respect for them.  I was thrilled when she won!  And the way Lindsay blamed Beverly entirely for her dish being bad?  Good for Grayson for speaking up about that....

Can you imagine if they had lost?  That would have been a FIGHT.

I'm sad to see Tylor gone, but I'm not surprised.  He really didnt' seem to live up to the hype that he created for himself.

Do we know when the "Last Chance" chef comes back?  I really hope the woman who has been winning all along makes it back.

  • I was happy that Beverly won, she definitely deserved it. Lindsay and Sarah were driving me crazy throuout the entire episode and I really felt bad for Bev with the way they treated her. MH and I both giggled when the ladies were in the stew room after they won and Sarah was talking up Lindsay and Greyson and Beverly were just looking at each other with little smiles on their faces.

  • I can't believe how mean those girls were to Beverly. Yeah, she's shy/timid, but she can cook. She seems to be doing pretty well this season (other than the one time she was almost eliminated). I was actually surprised the girls won considering how sloppy they were during their service. Their food must have been much better.

Yeah - I think the guys food just really really paled in comparison.  To me, service can make or break an experience, sometimes more than the food can.

Lindsay spent SO much time in the kitchen and repeatedly left people waiting out front.  That's poor.

I giggled at the "Tom is an Almond Joy superfan" bit. He DID seem overly fixated on the coconut issue!

  • I'm so over the way those girls bully Bev.  So she's quiet.  That doesn't mean she can't cook.  I'm shy as hell and super quiet, but I'm also a pastry chef and I can cook just as good as the loud mouth's I work with.  So I really feel for her.  I was so happy when she won, she clearly deserved it.  And good for Grayson for sticking up for her too!

Tylor seemed like he was going downhill for a while, not so sad to see him go.

  • I would hate having Beverly on my team, and hope she is sent home soon.  Top Chef is not "Top Cook."  Yes, she can cook, well, but in every team challenge, Beverly focuses ONLY on her dish and does nothing to contribute to the team.   She was in charge of ONE dish.  If everyone on the team only had one dish to work on, they could all have been winners.

There is a leadership element to Top Chef that Beverly would fail miserably - - if she ever made an attempt to lead.   Leadership comes in all styles, and quiet people can lead, too, but Beverly is not one of them!  Let's face it, the "damsel in distress" act grows old.  If she didn't know how to cook Lindsey's dish, could she have asked for more direction instead of throwing up her hands and crying that she didn't get good instructions?  Did Lindsey need to say "oh, and by the way, don't overcook the fish?"

I'm a little sad to see Ty-lor go, but he had messed up a few times, so I can't say it's unfair.  I'm hoping to see more from Chris, b/c I like him (and really loved his Kobayashi Maru reference!), but he has messed up, too.

The boys did have service problems - - maybe not a wait to be seated, but the expiditing was a mess, as was having customers see the chaos in the kitchen!

  • i'm not a huge fan of beverly (honestly she needs to buck up a little), but i have to say that i HATE sarah. i just wanna smack some sense into that head of hers, she's so annoying. and it's one thing to be bitchy if you've got the chops to back it up (a la hung, mikey v., marcel, and a few others) but she's proven time and again that she's not that great.

on another note, it was nice to have an episode that wasn't TEXAS themed this week. i'm sooooo over the whole texas bit.

  • Does anybody remember Fabio in Season 5 talking about Jamie "It's top Chef!  It's not Top Scallop!"

I feel like that with Beverly.  It's not Top Short Ribs!

I watched Tylor in "Last Chance Kitchen" and after the battle Tom said to the winner that they have to beat 3 more chefs then they are back in the competition.

(I don't want to give the winner away in case someone has not seen it.  The video is on Bravo's website)
