Cleaning stainless steel cookware

Hello all!  I have a set of stainless steel cookware and am having problems with my skillet.  I cooked an omelet in it and apparently didn't have enough cooking spray on it.  It left brown residue here and there.  I have tried soaking it in water, soaking it in water & dish soap, boiling water in it (twice), and scraping it with a firm spatula and nothing has worked.  Tips??  TIA!

Re: Cleaning stainless steel cookware

  • I like having stainless steel because I can take a steel wool pad to it, have you tried that?

Also, instead of just boiling with water, boil with baking soda and water.  This seems to work for cooked on crud.

I think a lot of people here recommend Bar Keeper's Friend for stainless steel also.

I'll admit I'm scared to try any type of brillo pad or steel wool, which I know is dumb, but I'm soooo used to non-stick cookware.  I will try the baking soda tip and then move on to Bar Keeper's Friend if it doesn't work.  Thanks!!
