Awesome app (since the subject matter came up in convo today.)

It's called "Fooducate."Available for Iphone and Andoid.

You scan the barcode (or manually type in the name) and it gives the food a score. For instance, by beloved Special K cereal scored a b-. Not too bad. The low score was a result of having High Fructose Corn Syrup. But, it only has 2.5 grams of sugar.

It explains briefly why a food scored what it did. It also appears to give weight watchers points, without being allowed to use the term "WW."

Another feature - it give healthier alternatives.

So while I thought I was doing good by buying Brummel and Brown buttery spread with yogurt, I was actually not. It "appears" healthier, but actually scored a C-. It contains EDTA, which is on the FDA's TOXICITY watch list!

I have scanned so many things in my house. So far most of what I had has been pretty good. But yeah, I was surprised about that spread.
