I've spent the entire evening parked on my asss in front of the tv

and feel like a complete slug. I have got to break this addiction. Any suggestions, I'm open to anything.

Re: I've spent the entire evening parked on my asss in front of the tv

  • If I run a lot of errands, it forces me to be away from the TV. Otherwise, I feel like I would love to sit there all day (work notwithstanding).

  • I've spent the entire evening parked in front of the laptop, so I'm no help.

  • Are you in to any type of crafts projects? Like photo albums, scrapbooks, card making, or art projects, etc? Those keep me busy. I also like force myself to walk away from the tv after about 30 minutes to read a book in the evening so I'm not sitting in front of it all night.
  • I've traded my Hoarders addiction for a Tiny Tower (phone/tablet game) so I am no help either.

If you knit, crochet, or do any type of needlework, youcould do that infront of the TV so you could feel a little productive.

  • Do you have DVR?  I've found it is helpful b/c you can watch when it works for you (for me, late at night when I really have no other projects going on).  Also, you can skip through commercials instead of being a hostage to the television!

Writing "to do" lists help me.  I know some people think that is very lame, but it keeps me focused.

This is what I was going to suggest.  I have to give myself "projects" when I am home or I will be completely bored or, just zone out.  I like DVR'ing my shows because then I can watch one show and then go do something & then come back to the shows later.

  • I am struggling with this motivation issue lately too.  I've found that caffeine helps.  Also, I try to do something productive while sitting in front of the TV like clip coupons, sort mail, write out my recipe cards, etc.  Those seem to be gateway tasks to getting my @$$ up and actually doing something that requires movement.
