I've spent the entire evening parked on my asss in front of the tv
and feel like a complete slug. I have got to break this addiction. Any suggestions, I'm open to anything.

I've traded my Hoarders addiction for a Tiny Tower (phone/tablet game) so I am no help either.
If you knit, crochet, or do any type of needlework, youcould do that infront of the TV so you could feel a little productive.
Do you have DVR? I've found it is helpful b/c you can watch when it works for you (for me, late at night when I really have no other projects going on). Also, you can skip through commercials instead of being a hostage to the television!
Writing "to do" lists help me. I know some people think that is very lame, but it keeps me focused.
This is what I was going to suggest. I have to give myself "projects" when I am home or I will be completely bored or, just zone out. I like DVR'ing my shows because then I can watch one show and then go do something & then come back to the shows later.
