Re: new orleans?

  • I LOVE New Orleans, like more than NYC. Hands down, that's my all time favorite US city to go to.

I've stayed at and would recommend both of them:

    Lowes

    W

Neither of them are in the French Quarter, but it's about a 10 minute walk to the French Quarter.

And bring your stretchy pants. Both times I was there for 2 weeks and both times I gained 5lbs.

  • DH's bachelor party was held at the Royal Sonesta.  People raved about it - nice, upscale hotel lcoated on Bourbon Street right in the action, but apparently it has a great pool that is really removed from the noise and bustle of Bourbon Street, so it feels like an oasis.

As for things to do: the Garden District is supposed to be beautiful, you can do an air-boat tour (DH has done two; loved both), you can tour the 9th Ward where Katrina did the most damage, and they have some really cool cemeteries to check out (everyone is buried in mausoleum-style tombs because you can't bury people below the waterline there).

I've not yet been to NOLA, but I'm going in late March (and staying at the Royal Sonesta), so if you're there from 3-21 to 3/26ish, let me know.  :)

  • Well I stay with my aunt and uncle...

But we've stayed at the Omni Royal Orleans and really liked it. The staff was super nice and helpful. It's in a great location, right in the thick of things in the quarter.

We have also stayed at the Hotel Provincial, though that was pre-Katrina, so I can't speak as to whether it's the same. It was nice, but it's a little farther back in the quarter, so you may have to walk more, depending on what you guys are doing.

  • We haven't been yet but are hoping to go if we make it to the LSU/UW game. So no help but I am going to stalk this post! =)
