Was your labor experience similar to your mother's?
Anyone know if how your mother's birth(s) went will have any relationship to how your own birth experience will go?
I figured I was just SOL with this kind of information because my mom never told me and I didn't think my dad would remember details like that, but he told me he remembers quite clearly because she was only in labor with me for like 4 hours and had me shortly after getting to the hospital. The doctor told him when they got there to go get himself a cup of coffee because he figured it would be awhile, and by the time he got back up from the cafeteria 15 minutes later, I had been born.
He said my brother's labor was also only about 4-5 hours but they went to the hospital sooner because of what happened with me. Do I need to be worried about giving birth in the car on the side of the road on the way to the hospital?
Always missing my Mommy (1954-2010) and Daddy (1943-2012)

Re: Was your labor experience similar to your mother's?
My BM was 16 and I was an emergency c-section because cord was around my neck. Other than that I know nothing.
If that holds true my sister better be ready: My mom delivered my brother 9lbs 11oz in the backseat of a car naturally. Apparently he couldn't wait to get to the birthing center in CA.
No, on both accounts.
I was born around my due date, and her water broke, and she had no contrax. However once they started, they barely got to hosp in time, and she said the drs LITERALLY threw some warm water on her down there and delivered me so fast her bod y went into shock.
My sister was born late, my mom was induced and a long birth process (no C/S)
in both accounts for me my kids were 1 month early, and both scenarios were totally different from one another as well as my mothers. (i'm happy to share, just thought 4 birth stories would be long! LOL LOL)
not at all
my mom was in labor with me for about 24 hours, withmy sister for 2 hours.
my l&d with A was 12 hours.
Not at all, I was born 4 days part my due date and my mom was in labor for over 2 days. She went into labor on the 26th and I was born the 28th.
T was born 10 days early and I went into labor naturally. I went to the hospital at 5pm on a Tuesday and she was born by 1:15pm on Wed. My labor was more like my MIL. My H was also born 10 days early and she said she had an easy labor and delivery and so did I.
No, I wish! My mom had three fast and easy labors with no drugs for any. I had a kind of fast labor but ended in c/s bc dd was stuck for 3 hours...and pretty much every drug in the book due to pain/section!
However, my sister took after my mom...fast, easy drug free delivery and didn't even really know anything was happening til about 4cm dilated.
I know the Bradley method mentions the similar experiences, but I think the field has changed so much since our mothers gave birth that in some cases we could be comparing apples and oranges.
FWIW, my Mom had a very difficult labor with me. She had lost her fluid beforehand and labored over 30 hours. Forceps were used, and her OB regretted not sectioning her.
I lost my fluid, too (found out during my 40w appt), but was sectioned (I never went into labor). I didn't know the same thing happened to my Mom until after I had the baby.
I have to agree with this. Honestly I never even asked my mom what her birth experience was like. I know she had me naturally, that's about it. Idk if she would remember ( she's older and had me later in life). She usually says " oh they didn't have things like that when u were a baby" lol
Nope. My Mom was knocked out when I was born. I guess that did that in the 70's or something. She said she didn't know I was a girl till she woke up and my Dad told her.
I was induced when I had my son because he was HUGE. 9 lbs. 7 oz. and I pushed that kid out.
