Is it sad?

That I was going through my closet to clean some stuff out and donate it to the Salvation Army that I couldn't get rid of two tops that I have that don't really fit me right now? I can't bare to get rid of them because they are so cute and won't be something that looks outdated once I can get back into it. Plus they have really sentimental value to me. I used to wear those tops a lot when hubby and I were in our early dating stage.

Re: Is it sad?

  • I don't think its sad at all! I have a hard time getting rid of things family members (espeically my dad) got for me. I'm a tosser I can throw just about anything away if I haven't used it in a while but I still have some concert tees that my dad got me, or pajama pants my grandmother got me.

p.s. my dad isn't passed away either I'm just a serious daddy's girl haha

  • Not sad. I have a few of those things as well.

And if you're aiming to get back into them at some point,  wouldn't get rid of them. You'll wish you hadn't. trust me. I had a perfect pair of jeans I never thought I'd fit and went looking for them remembering I gave them away. Sad day.

  • i still have some clothes from HS ._. i do toss stuff though if i haven't worn it in a long time (unless it's because it didn't fit for a long time & now does)
  • Not sad! It took me over a year to get rid of my favorite white eyelet tank top that was becoming discolored and had a huge hole in it. It was always my favorite and I wore it to sing in a talent show, but I finally got rid of it a few months back. It was sad but it had to go.

  • I do the same thing. I hang onto way too many clothing items.
  • I'm really sad because I misplaced one of my favorite black cardigans and was hoping the closet overhaul would help me find it, but it didn't :(

I've done this too.  If there's something I love but can't wear anymore, I make it my goal.  Knowing I'm dying to get back into something makes losing weight a little easier.

  • I do that too.  Some things just hold some sentimental value and are hard to get rid of.  Our guest room closet is full of clothes I need to go through and clean out.  I have a lot of stuff I never wear but haven't taken the time to go through it all.

Like the dress I was wearing the night H and I met and the dress I wore on our first date. I brought them both with me and wore them on our honeymoon.  I am so glad I held on to those! So some things are just worth keeping!

  • I do that too. This post reminds me that I need to clean out my closet and get rid of a lot of clothes that I never wear. I wear the same things over and over again.
  • I think you should hang on to the tops if you think you might wear them again.  I've gotten rid of things that I wish I would have held on to.

I have a really hard time letting go of clothes, because I always remember where I wore them or just really like them too much to see them exit my closet.  I currently have way too many clothes, and I need to clean out my closet in a big way.  I just did that a few months ago for my yard sale and I clearly didn't get rid of enough.  My closet is still packed.  I basically decided that I can't buy anything new until I get rid of a bunch of things.

  • I have a hard time getting rid of clothes too. I just KNOW that even though I haven't worn it in a year or more, I'll want to as soon as I give it away.

It's funny you say that because I'm a serious daddy's little girl also and I get choked up hearing his favorite song. "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong and my dad is very much alive.

Bombe- no it's not sad. I have tons of clothes that I should get rid of but just can't find it in me to toss them out.
