Fb swap meets (pets related)
A woman is pimping out her boxer on our base swap meet page. And no one has said anything negative about it! WTF. It's because he's about to get neutered. SMH. This makes my blood boil.
ETA: it got deleted. And I quote "since I don't do testing, I guess I'm considered a BYB". Um yep.
And she said she wish these standards were applied to humans. LOL. Apples to oranges.
Re: Fb swap meets (pets related)
I got flamed like nobody's business for speaking out about all the pets for free/for sale/BYB on our base's swap page. I gave up.
Our shelter here (we only have one) is so full they won't take the strays I bring them, so I then bring them over to the police department, and the animals not claimed within three days are euthanized. We don't have homes for all these pets. It kills me to see people post pictures of their dog with their babies, "Good with kids," then why don't you keep him? Pets don't cost much when you're too lazy to go to training classes, feed Kibbles N Bits, etc. And don't give me that, "We're too busy for him," line of crap.
Have you ever seen this link? http://www.pet-abuse.com/pages/animal_adoption/free_pets.php
I was flamed on our bases page because I said something negative about a CL post another wife posted. It was a single soldier looking for someone to watch their two dogs while they were in the feild for the next few weeks. Another wife posted a suggestion that the person call a local kennel who offers a military discount. They went off on her that it is stupid to send the dog to some place they don't know when they could get an actual person to watch the dogs.
Woah? It's ok to ask complete strangers to watch your dogs but bad to send them to a reputable kennel with a staff of vets and vet techs? How does that work? I mentioned that this was the exact reason why most rescue will not adopt out to single service memebers and that people who do not have a care plan for their pets should not own pets. They went off on me. Finally, another person came on and said they knew the CL poster and it was a female in her H's unit who was notorious for buying dogs and then getting rid of them a few months later. The entire FB post was deleted shortly after.
