Any soap makers out there?
I just made my first batch of cold process soap. I used my immersion blender and went out last night to buy another one so I could keep this one just for soap. I didn't realiize what a nice $$$ blender I had! I hand washed it, then stuck it in the dishwasher on sanitize. Do you think I could use that one for food again and go buy myself a cheap one and use that for soap? I know you aren't supposed to typically use supplies for food once you have made a cold process soap (because of the lye) but handwashing and then sanitizing in the dishwasher should be okay shouldn't it? And then never using that one for soap again?
Re: Any soap makers out there?
You neutralize the lye, so I don't see why you couldn't use it for other stuff.
But yeah, from here on out I'd get a cheap one and use it just for soap.

I don't know anything about soap making, but I don't think I'd chance it if you "know" you're not supposed to. I assume they're saying even after washing it's not safe; I can't imagine they're thinking people would use an immersion blender on soap and then immediately stick it in a soup before washing in between
If you use it for soap making it should strictly be for soap making.. sorry.
I've made soap for years now, we had a glass blender with a stainless steel blade that we used. We specifically bought it for soap making.
