We live in Baltimore
We want to go away for 4-7 nights, price range of about 2000-3000 TOTAL. For our honeymoon we went to Jamaica and loved it (resort was Sandals now is the Jewel Dunns River), for 1 year we went to Grand Palladium Punta Cana...I think we're leaning towards a beachy vacay vs. exploring a city
We loved Punta Cana's beaches, nice to have some movement to the water much more then Jamaica...I thought the food and drink was better at Jamaica then Punta Cana although neither were out of this world.
It doesn't have to be all inclusive
Are there new hot spots? Places you been that you would reccommend? Other places we've been and liked our Niagara Falls, Finger Lakes, New Orleans. We like bed n breakfasts.
Oh and husband prefers non stop flights that aren't too long...so Aruba/Hawaii would probably be too far
Re: Inspire me! 5 year anniversary
Costa Rica - There's so much to do there - inland with the volcanoes, or a little beach town. We stayed at a Hilton all-inclusive, but there were plenty of other nice places.
Puerto Rico - Great history, towns, nice, warm water, excellent food. We only stayed there for a couple of days before a cruise, but I'd love to go back.
How about a cruise?
There are cruises that leave from Baltimore to Bermuda. So that could be an option.
You could also go to Puerto Rico or Mexico and get non-stop flights to either location on Air Tran from BWI. In Puerto Rico, you could do some city exploring in San Juan if you felt so included or you could not do San Juan at all and just go to beaches. My co-worker is going to Culebra (island off Puerto Rico) next month...it sounds so relaxing. Plus there is also Vieques off PR as well.
A coworker went to Nicaragua last winter and spent most of his time on the Corn Islands. He has great pictures and came back super relaxed.
**waves hi**
Have you looked into St Lucia? We went there on our honeymoon and loved it. I don't believe that BWI flies direct, but you can fly to Miami and then to St Lucia. I'm not a fan of connecting flights, but it wasn't bad at all.
You can fly to Bermuda from Philadelphia direct on USAirways, the flight is about 2 hours long, as I recall.
It's not a beach destination before May, as it's not in the tropics it gets cold in the winter months.
It is gorgeous. It can be expensive but if you're MM about it (staying in a condo versus a hotel, taking buses instead of taxis) you could definitely do it on that budget.
Aruba is a 5 hour nonstop from Philly on USAirways. We're heading there in March!
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
I know of a few people that have been recently, and they love it there. Big bonus is that it's super inexpensive compared to the popular vacay places. The pics I've seen look beautiful.
I am researching the exact same thing right now. Our 5 yr is July 7th and we are looking for beach vacations for 7ish days in the same price range.
So far my front runners are:
- Iberostars in the Riviera Maya Mexico. We were originally going to get married here so I thought it might be fitting.
- Beach rental in one of the Carolinas
- Punta Cana and Negril are places I've been and love but DH hasn't been.
- Emerald Coast of Florida (Gulf side) / St Petes / Clearwater
- Florida Keys & Miami
- If I could somehow find a way to do Turks and Caicos I would but it's highly doubtful in my price range.
- In a slightly different beach destination...Lake Havasu Arizona. I thought we could throw in Vegas or the Grand Canyon. DH has never been.
