I guess bad things really do come in 3s! This weekend was just one thing after another for us. Saturday H and I went to pick up pizza and when H ran in to get it I waited in the car and the car died when he came back out. Thankfully we weren't too far away from home so H walked back and got his car. But it still wouldn't start so my brother came up and it took both cars to start mine. My car is fine now but we are looking at getting me a new battery.
Then Saturday we noticed our sewage line was backing up into the basement. This happened last spring too. Our house is old and the pipes were clay so we have roots that can clog them.
Sunday H kept saying that he smelled something burning and we couldn't figure out what it was. The smell got stronger but we didn't see anything. Finally when we got home from a movie H realized the furnace was super hot so we turned off the heat. Then before we went to bed we realized the house seemed hazy or smokey. So we packed up Lola and went to stay with my Dad. It was very scary there for a little while. We didn't know what was causing the smoke. I almost called the fire dept to come out. Thank goodness we didn't have to work Monday!
Thankfully we have a home warranty so all we had to pay was the deductible to get the sewage line pumped and the motor replaced on our furnace. I hope things are done breaking for a while! Sometimes being an adult is no fun. Funny thing is all that happened and I still feel like we had a nice relaxing 3 day weekend!
Re: The Joys of being an Adult...
Married
Yuck. Adulthood can be so mean sometimes. Hopefully you've hit the max at 3 and things will calm down!
We discovered a leak in the wall and ceiling of the baby's room and luckily, that was an easy fix. Now we have to paint the stains though. Boo.
We also have a spot in our master closet floor that's staying wet and I have no idea why. You walk through the bathroom to get to the closet, so I'm sure it's one of the pipes, but I have no idea which. That probably won't be fun to fix. With busy season approaching for Clay, it's got to be fixed fast. Boo.
