Soooo, got the CFP results

I did not pass.  I'm so bummed, I don't know what else I could have done to pass.  I'm feeling pretty upset right now, especially given the past three years that I've had and everything I've gone through.  This was definitely the icing on the cake.  Thanks to you ladies for your words of encouragement.

  • Oh no! :-(  I am so so sorry!  My heart just sank.

Can you re-test at a later date?

  • Left Hug  Awww so sorry to hear that!!! I was hoping so hard that you passed. :(
  • I'm sorry, AChase. That sucks. Thinking of you!
  • I know people will say everything will be ok, and you won't think it will be, but it will. I've done my fair share of not passing standardized tests recently, I understand. You tried, you did your best, and you can try again (I'm pretty sure).
  • I'm so sorry to hear this! I know how hard you worked. Take some time for yourself and feel bad. Then after you've had some time to process devise a plan for next time. You can do this! For what it's worth I think standardized tests suck and are a lot more about how you take tests than the knowledge you have.

  • Oh AM, I'm so sorry to hear this Sad Like the others said, you did everything in your power to prepare. I know it's hard not to, but please don't try to beat yourself up over this. You're an amazing person!

  • I am sure a lot of people don't pass on their first try. I used to work in an accounting firm and know for a fact that most CPAs don't pass the CPA exam on the first try. Many will pass certain parts, and will end up passing the others on their 2nd try. I know it's not the same exam, but I am sure it's a similar structure. Don't give up now - just keep on until you pass. You've had a crappy 3 years, but everything good that has happened to you has happened because you didn't just throw up your hands and give up.

  • I'm so sorry AChase!  Please don't give up though.  It took me 3 times to pass the state insurance test when I was selling life insurance for an internship.  The second time I failed by only one question!  It's ok to have a little pity party, but then pick yourself up and look into when you can re-take the test.

  • I am so incredibly sorry.  :(  My heart is sad for you.

  • Ugh I'm so so sorry A.  Try not to beat yourself up--you've been going through a lot these past few years.  ((hugs))

  • I'm sorry achase - I know this has got to suck big time.  (((hugs)))
  • Oh no achase, so sorry to hear this. What a bummer. Not passing this test does not negate all the hard work and difficult things you have gotten through in the past few years.
  • Sad  I'm so sorry to hear that.  Left Hug  I agree with PP...standardized testing is about how you test, not what you know.  I'd take some time to be bummed out, eat ice cream, drink wine, go shopping, whatever helps...then book a new test date and hit the books again.  Are there any guides for it that are geared more toward test-taking strategies than toward knowledge?  Perhaps they would be of help.  I know you can do it!  Don't give up!
  • I am sorry achase. Try not to let this test ruin everything you've accomplished.

  • I am so sorry. Go ahead and take the time you need to mourn this disappointment, then book the next test. You got this, don't give up! You have a lot of working years ahead of you (sorry, but it's true), so you just need to get back in there and do it again...with anger this time:). 10 years down the road when you are a CFP, will it really matter that it took 3 times to pass the test? NO! All the studying that you are doing is getting you that much closer to passing the damn thing! Hang in there! A speed bump, yes, but an obstacle? No way!!
  • Soooo disappointed for you :(   It just sucks.
  • I'm so sorry!!! Big hugs your way and hang in there....you certainly are one strong girl!

You did everything you could and now you just have to get back up, dust yourself off and go again. I know you can do it.

  • I'm so sorry to hear that! Don't let this bring you down. It's just one little bump in the road and you'll get past this. You're strong!

  • Sorry to hear that and you have every right to be bummed and upset right now. I do agree with OP that if you do try it again, a test prep for that particular test might help - but your mind is probably far away from that right now.

Also I will offer no "there is a reason for this" right now because it is probably a pretty fresh wound and I am sure you may want to throat punch any/everyone who is saying that right now.

  • I'm so sorry!! What a bummer...Do you get to at least find out which areas you need to look at more? I've heard that is an extremely hard test to pass. Don't get too down on yourself, you can always try again :)

  • I am sorry, it is just a small bump in your road. You can overcome it.
  • I am sorry.  I am bummed for you.  I know you really wanted it really bad, just like Nemo, just keep swimming and you can retake the test.
  • I'm sorry achase.  We all know how hard you worked on studying and being prepared.  :(
