DH is going to be in Budapest for training in a few weeks and he suggested that maybe I should look into coming for the weekend since both of us have never been before. I'm always excited to travel to new places and would love to see it.
Pros: We have tons of airline miles so we would only have to pay about $100 to cover the taxes for the ticket and it wouldn't even begin to put a dent on the number of miles we have accumulated. The hotel is also paid for because of his training.
Cons: I can't take more than a day off work so it would literally be just for the weekend. It'd be 8 hours of travel each way. I would leave on a red eye on Thursday morning, hopefully sleep on the plane, and jump straight into whatever sightseeing I wanted to do when I get there at 8am on Thursday. Then I'd have all day on Friday, but I'd be flying back early on Saturday morning. So basically, 16 hours total travel for 48 hours total in Budapest. The time difference is minimal so at least there's that.
Am I crazy to even consider this?

Oh god yes. I would never be able to handle this with the kids. I'd lose my ever-loving mind.

PAIF/SAIF/PGAL welcome
ABSOLUTELY do it! I'm a big fan of taking advantage of opportunities like this in general, but I also LOVED Budapest. My cousin's wife is from Budapest and I was over there for their wedding a couple years ago. It was incredible. Thanks to flight delays, we ended up with actually less than 48 hours to spend in Budapest before going to a smaller town for the wedding, but we still fit in a ton of sightseeing and managed to at least get a taste of both sides. (If you want to see pics, I have them here: http://mylifeasalawyerswife.shutterfly.com/travelpictures/109 or they're also all under the "Hungary" tag on my blog.)
Go, go, go!!!
