I have a theory. I apply it frequently to military life, but it applies to life in general (it just seems more readily apparent to me as magnified by the military lifestyle).
Do you EMBRACE life or do you ENDURE life?
More of us here, I think, are likely to be embracers, but we all know those who simply endure. They tend to be the victims and those who seem to suck life out of a room. You know you've gotten stuck talking to an "endurer" at a unit function when you realize s/he is doing all the talking and everyone else is giving the two of you a wide berth, so as not to get sucked in, as well.
I know this is a very simplistic theory, but it is really important to me to life as engaged a life as I can (this can be a challenge for ADD-me who does not plan ahead and often times lacks motivation). With our move (less than eight weeks away, gulp!), I keep reminding myself to make plans and be positive. We've been given a fabulous gift of three years abroad. I want to come home with stories, pictures and memories--not regrets and ideas not explored. I want LO to have adventures and stamps in his passport! While I hope that I don't suck the air out of a room, I know that I can be an endurer. It's easier that way. But, it's not more fulfilling or interesting.
So, which are you?

Re: Which type are you?
I think in general, I am an embracer.
although I am enduring the time between submitting doc apps and getting replies to them, lol.
I changed my name
It really kind of depends on the moment. When I am hearing about Step Dad going through chemo for the umpteenth time... its endure...
when I am up to my elbows in bills because I lost my debit card and forgot to update my billing info... I embrace it... and try to learn something from my own jackassery.
Generally I'm an embracer. But now that we're so close to finally getting out of here and moving on, I'm just sort of existing day-to-day. H leaves for another TDY soon, so that means that I'm going to have to be the one to deal with the TMO and housing notice/inspection stuff, which I've never done before. Time for me to buck up and do it.
I'll just be glad when it's all taken care of and we're at the next base.
This is me too.
