Montgomery hospital

Has anyone delivered there or know anyone who has?  Since my experience with Bryn Mawr was less than desirable I'm looking around for a new OBGYN and a lot in my area deliver there.  They are opening a brand new facility this year which makes me feel a bit more comfortable choosing that hospital.  Just wondering if anyone has any personal stories about their experience there.

  • Hey Shannon, I was supposed to deliver there in 2009 but I switched because my friend delivered there and had a horrible experience. Her bad experience was because of the staff. I did have my ultrasound there and had one really great nurse and one terrible nurse. My doctor was phenomenal so it was a hard decision to leave him. I don't want to get too into it on here, just pm me or message me on fb if you want more info.

  • There is a midwife practice that does vbacs there it is likely where i will deliver.

This was one of the things that interested me.  I didn't have a great experience with their physical therapy group and have had less than great experiences with the radiology department but I know maternity could be a separate experience.

I'm going back and forth between here and Abington.  Montgomery would be the better choice for location to the doctor's practice and to the hospital.  I'm only 5 minutes away as compared to a 30 minute drive give or take with traffic to Abington.

They just opened East Norriton Women's Health across the street from ourdoctor's office.  Dr V's nurse and Inhave talked about OBGYN's and I swear she said Guiffrida is good and he's at that practice.

  • OMG, I cannot say enough good things about the staff at Montgomery Hospital!  The nurses were fantastic, especially Franny, Marge and Chris.  I was admitted into the hospital twice during my pregnancy and both times Franny was my nurse.  She is so much fun and so comforting.  Chris was fantastic because she really took the extra time to sit with me to help me with breast feeding.

My OBGYN is Dr. Zadzielski from Women's Associates in Norristown.  They are located directly across the street from the hospital.  The day I was induced, I literally walked from the dr's office over to the hospital.  I realy like all the doctors and nurse practitioners at the practice, however I don't love the midwife Crystal Franklin.   She gave me incorrect information twice and now I refuse to have an appointment with her.  But  Dr. Mary Flemming was the doctor who was there for the actual birth and she was great.  Martinsgirl, I will page you on the FB page with the info.

Shannon, if you have any specific questions, let me know.

If I decide to go this route for the VBAC, do you see an OBGYN for all of your prenatal visits plus the midwife?  Just curious how that works.

Thanks, this is helpful.  I'm sure I will hear good and bad stories.  I think I am so nervous because of my last experience.  I hear the new hospital will have a NICU but I'm not sure what level it is.  I'm extra concerned about delivering again because if I go the VBAC route I know you are risking a uterine rupture and I just want to make sure I'm in good hands.

nope you'd see the midwives. then if you need intervention there is practice of doctors they work with. same as bryn mawr, my midwife stayed with me while i got my csection, it was REALLY nice to have an extra support person, she told me what was happening and i never felt alone when p went with the baby.

No, I met her when i got admitted,"just in case", but my midwives were my point person until the surgery, and she did the surgery but i didn't even see her again, not even on rounds. I mean for me it felt like the penn system of you get whoever is on duty. My midwives did rounds on me every day too, and when i was sent home, a nurse from my midwives came to check on me and took out my staples. I had my follow up visit with the midwives so I never saw the practice outside the hospital.

Thanks! I am so tempted to try an OBGYN closer to home, but at the same time am torn b/c I work at BM  but after hearing about your experience I started to think about other hospitals...There are definitely benefits to being so close to home though in a brand new facility!
