::Insert clever title here::
I was so trying to think of a witty title for this post, and I've got nothin'. So, I'll leave you with a picture of what I got this past weekend instead

Re: ::Insert clever title here::
Thanks MCC!
Well, we had been ring shopping both where we live AND in NYC last month, so I knew it was just a matter of time. On our drive home from NYC, he was asking me when he next weekend DS would be with XH. He "claimed" to have a tractor in northern MI he needed to go pick up and he wanted me to ride along with him. He and his grandpa collect antique John Deere tractors, so driving all over to pick them up isn't uncommon for him.
Anyway, we made plans to pick up this tractor the weekend of Jan 13-15 since DS would be with XH. FF was being very secretive about what we were doing, saying it was a surprise and to just enjoy it. I had a sneaking suspicion the proposal would be coming, but I didn't let on I felt that way. A few days before we left, FF came clean and said there wasn't a tractor to pick up, nor was there ever one.
We ended up in Traverse City, MI, which, if you're looking at the palm of your right hand, it's around where the tip of your ring finger is (gotta love being able to point out things in your state on your hand!!). We stayed at a romantic Inn right on the Bay, with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub in the room and had a balcony overlooking the Bay. We went to a neat brewery for dinner on Friday and FF mentioned he wanted to stop by the beach to see the waves at night. It was so windy and bitterly cold, but the waves really were neat because they were all slushy. I turned around to face FF, and he was pulling me closer. He started getting all fumbled with his words and just dropped to one knee, pulled out the ring and said, "Marry me?" He was so nervous, it was adorable. And of course I said yes!
We spent the rest of the weekend celebrating by going to the casino (and i won!!!) and doing wine tasting tour. It was so much fun and I love how much effort FF put into the whole weekend.
We're planning a wedding for June 2013
Oh, and I'm in LOVE with my ring! The picture really doesn't do it justice -- the stone is so CLEAR and it sparkles like crazy in even the worst of light. It was the same style I had picked out in NYC (radiant cut center stone w/ trillions on either side), but FF picked out a bigger diamond and had them set in a wider band becaue he knew I liked that style. And he had the ring engraved. He had the ring for nearly a month before popping the question!
OMG PIP, I'm so happy for you!
Congratulations and have fun planning your wedding
OMG, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your ring is freakin gorgeous!
Congratulations! The ring is gorgeous, the weekend sounds spectacular, and I wish you both the very best!
Aww. Proposals make me feel all warm and squishy.
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
Congrats! What a wonderfully sweet story! And what a wonderful job FF did with the ring! I'm so super excited for you, and so glad that you found a good guy this time around. Hugs!!
side note - I haven't made it to Traverse City yet, but it's on this list once I get moved up to Detroit! I love me some CGT wine though!
They see us rollin'...they be hatin'.
