wine tasting in Australia
Has anyone done any wine tasting in the areas around Melbourne and/or Adelaide. We'll be visiting both areas in a few months and are trying to decide which wine regions to check out. Is it worth the drive to the Yarra Valley? If we only have 1 day in Adelaide, should we go to Barrosa or Adelaide Hills or McLaren? Etc. Any recs on specific wineries as well?
I know this is kind of specific... hopefully someone will have some insight.
Re: wine tasting in Australia
My husband and I did a fantastic wine tour in the Mornington Peninsula while in Melbourne for part of our honeymoon. We went with a group called Vinetrekker. We loved it. Loved, loved. One of the best things we did in Melbourne. (Here's the specific one we did: http://www.vinetrekker.com.au/morningtonpeninsula.php?x=21)
I hope that helps!
PM me if you have any more questions about Australia.

Another option is to hire a car and drive out there from Melbourne yourself. It isn't that far from the CBD- you could even stay the night down the Mornington Peninnusla or even at one fo the wineries or a B&B. Recommend staying in Portsea and checking out the pub for lunch or dinner.
Here is a company we used one year for our work xmas party. They were quite good.

IMO Barrosa Valley is better. I can't rememebr the company we did a tour with but I did find them through trip advisor so defiantely check that out.
If you are going in winter be prepared that things would be closed during the week and there will be less weekday tours (they would open the winery for tour providers with full buses)
Enjoy
