I think you ladies are so cool

Just looking at the post about which places people have been to and I have seen these types of posts here before, I am totally in awe of how many places people have been to.  I feel like compared to people I know IRL I have been to a lot of places but then I compare it to everyone on here and I am BORING.  Then again I did not fly until I was 23 and we tend to go back to places more than going to new places but still.  Very cool to see people that love to travel so much.

  • I've only been to one place on that list, am I still cool?? lol.  I've been to many other places other than on that list though...mostly Caribbean and tropical places, and places in the U.S.  I do need to venture out more to non-typical vacay destinations.

  • I feel very fortunate that my parents instilled a true love of travel in us and started traveling with us internationally at such a young age. DH feels the same and we have been doing the same with our kids, both kids had passports before they were 2 months old!

  • I know what you mean - amongst people I know, DH and I are considered "world travelers," but nothing compared to the posters here.  DH and I did not really start international traveling til our late 20s when we had some money.  And now, we only have 3-4 weeks a year to travel so it makes it more challenging.

  • A lot of the places I've been have been because we live or lived close by.  For example, we went to Lodz when we were living in Prague, the ski resort and Montpellier when we were living in Switzerland, and half of the SE Asia ones now that we live here.  I feel like I'm somehow cheating.
  • I used to feel like I was relatively well traveled - bicultural, expat, lived in 3 countries, been to over 20 - until I got into travel blogging. Suddenly compared to people who've been to 70+ countries and fly 100,000 miles every year, I feel like a homebody!

Which is to say it all just depends on your frame of reference, and the important thing is enjoying the travel you do, not comparing yourself to what other people do (unless it's for inspiration, in which case compare away).

This exactly.  I haven't traveled a ton, but compared those in my everyday life, I guess I've done a few places that others wouldn't dream about going...but so many of you on here are so well travelled.  It's quite inspirational!
  • I'm a cheater too. I didn't have a passport until I was an adult, but most of my travel is for work or to visit my husband while he is working. I've been to more than 60 countries, but if I'm counting trips that were purely holidays it would be far far fewer.

  • Yeah, I am pretty cool.
  • The first time I left the country (aside from a few day trips to Canada as a child) was in college.  I love to travel and thankfully so does my husband.  We're hoping to go on an international trip a year, even if it's just a long weekend to the Caribbean.  I've only been to 2 or 3 places on the list, but at least the list of places I've been to has been expanding every year!
