Another interview/job post

Last week I interviewed for a position with the province, and the job was my exact job that I do now but for a different order of government.  I aced the interview, I could almost see the supervisor salivating as I mentioned how I run my office now.

This morning they called and offered me the job, for about 10% less than I'm making right now....sigh.  I don't think it's wise to switch jobs when I know I'll be off for a year on mat leave so I wasn't really planning on taking it, but I am disappointed at the same time cause they seemed like really awesome people and I know there is more opportunity there than where I am now.

If I had planned on taking the position I would have requested more money, but I'm kinda sad not to be able to take advantage of the opportunity.  A pay cut and a probationary position are just not the best plan pre delivery.

Re: Another interview/job post

  • Congrats on the job offer. Even though you turned it down, it is always nice to be offered a job :) I understand your concern over taking a new job with the maternity leave coming up.
  • It sounds like staying with your current job is the right decision for you and your family.  Good job on the interview though!

  • First, I'm jealous that you're getting a year of maternity leave.  That's awesome.

I hate that it's not going to work for you, but at least you saw that people are impressed with the job you do and when you're ready to leave, you can.

I totally agree with this. Sorry you are feeling disappointed - but that's nice to know you're the kind of employee people want working for them!
