Birthday Party Menu help

We are having a birthday party for kiddo this weekend (it's more of a party for us) and I am making a big batch of BBQ pulled pork and will have slider buns.  Aside from chips & salsa and some veggies, what else should I have available for people to snack on?  It will be more of an appetizer set up than a meal.

Re: Birthday Party Menu help

  • cole slaw to go with the sliders?

I swear, even food snobs will usually pick up a pig-in-blanket, and they are so easy to make ahead of time.

Cheese and meat trays are easy for snacking....perhaps with some fancier olives, like an antipasto tray?

  • It would be super easy to fill out that menu with cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad etc (that's exactly what we did for C's 2nd bday) but if you want to stick to finger foods maybe:

-wings, which you could order some place and put them next to the veggies to share dressing.Orrrrrr CRACK DIP.

    - wraps/pinwheels that are cut in to bite size 1 inch segments.

    - you could also do a bunch of fixings for the sliders - cole slaw, bread and butter pickles, etc. I love me some cole slaw with pulled pork, in case you can't tell.

  • Cole slaw, mostly because I love it on pulled pork sandwiches.

    Sliced Fruit

    soup served in mugs

A warm dip (like crab dip, or crack dip, or spinach artichoke, or page pixie for this spicy cheese sausage one she makes - so good) served with sliced baguette

Macaroni and cheese (or those mac and cheese bites from TJs)

Will there be a lot of other kids there?  With parties for both my kiddos, I tried to include some of their favorite foods on the menu.

  • Is this party taking place during meal times or between meal times?  If it's between, then I think pork sliders, chips/salsa & veggie tray (plus I assume cake or other dessert) is sufficient.

If it's during a meal time, then I ditto some of the suggestioons above especially cole slaw, warm dip & fruit.

  • i agree if you want to keep it snacky. do a warm dip and a cold dip. i do a taco dip that everyone loves and it takes me like 7 minutes to make

mac n cheese also sounds amazing to me right now lol

fruit skewers or a fruit bowl or platter

veggie platter or a cheese platter

    bruschetta

hope that gives you some ideas (i threw in some non meat ones in case you have a vegetarian)

  • This probably isn't helpful, but I also like the idea of cole slaw, baked beans, and other things that traditionally go with pulled pork. I know it's not appetizery, but those things are SO easy. You can easily buy pre-made sides if you don't want to make them yourself. I'd also do a fruit salad or something similar.
