Cooking with Ring

Do you cook with your wedding ring on? I have been trying to cook at home more often, and I have noticed the grime and gook that gets into it. I never take it off but I am considering when I am cleaning or cooking......

Re: Cooking with Ring

  • Yup. I cook, clean, paint, even make pie dough with it on. I just make sure I wash it really carefully before and after.

  • it depends, I normally keep it on while just cooking but if I have my hands in a mess of whatever it be I'm cooking, I'll take them off. I always take them off to do dishes but that only cause I'm a nervous Nelly and always think I'm gonna lose a stone, or something along the lines of that lol.

  • Yep, with the exception of if I have to really roll the dough with my hands or something and the dough is buttery. The only other time I take them off is when I paint or use super glue. Oh and when I do a mud run in June - no way am I wearing them then.
  • I take it off it my hands are going to get messy while cooking or baking.  I also take it off when I hand wash dishes, take a shower, paint, do yard work or anything where my hands will be roughed up.  When my ring gets wet it is very prone to slipping off.

Exactly this. I basically take my rings off at night when I get home from work.

  • I pretty much take my rings off as soon as I get home from work, and during the weekends I only put them on if I am going out somewhere.  I've never been much of a ring wearer and so after having it on 10-11 hours a day during the week, I'm ready to give my finger a break.

I don't like getting them messy while cooking or doing the dishes, they get stuck in my hair sometimes if I am trying to put it in a pony tail, and if I am cleaning I don't want to get the chemicals and/or dirt on them.

I'm married regardless of if I have a ring on or not so I prefer comfort over pretty sparkly things most of the time while I am home lol.

  • I get wedding ring rash really super easy, so if I know my hands are going to get wet, I take my rings off.  I also can't sleep in them.  :-(

  • I have just a single ring due to diamonds on the sides. I take it off for yard work, swimming and other water activities, cooking if it is messy or dealing with raw meat, some travel destinations in US and all abroad destinations, otherwise it stays on.
