Travel Agent or Not

Hey Ladies!

The husband and I are ready for a vacation! We used a travel agent in the passed but dont want to use her anymore!

Looking to plan an all Inclusive Caribbean Vacation for March and the clock is ticking!

Do you book with out without a Travel Agent?

If you do, who can you recommend?

If you dont what website do you find easiest to book from?

Thanks in advance ladies! =)

Re: Travel Agent or Not

  • We usually do our own research and price out what we're looking at and then go to a travel agent and see what they can do for us.  For our Disney trips we have used Small World Vacations (they only do Disney).  It costs the same, but I like knowing that I have a person to contact just in case there was ever a problem.  We've also always gotten our room preferences matched but that could just be a coincidence.  For our HM we used Liberty Travel in Nanuet.  She was able to get us better prices than we found on our own.  We contacted them when we planned a trip to CA a year and a half ago and just found it was easier doing that one on our own.  For our upcoming trip we are using Party Time Travel in Nanuet and the pricing of the cruise was better than what we found online on our own.  I just like knowing what I'm looking at before I go in to the travel agency, but I do like having a point of contact in case too.
  • Thanks for the advice =)

  • I've had some bad experiences using websites like Expedia and Travelocity so if you go that route be careful. Reservations had been changed on us and we weren't notified. Apparently it was in the "fine print" that they could do that. Total BS. We use a travel agent now, but like above post mentioned, I'll usually price out stuff on the internet first, then visit the travel agent and see what she can do for us. She almost always gets us a better price anyway.

  • We use Jennifer from thetropicaltravelers.com

She isn't local, but we've used her twice and were very happy with her both times. For our honeymoon, we had a family emergency the day before we were supposed to leave and then had some minor issues while on our trip and she was great with everything.

  • I used Liberty Travel once. It was yearssssss ago but I don't recall anything negative about them so they must have done a good job planning my vacation lol. I used AAA for my honeymoon and 2 cruises. Overall I was pleased with them. There's a site called resortcompete. com. I have never used it but I did use their sister site, cruisecompete and I have been very happy with them. Good luck and happy travels :D
