Palm Springs, tell me all about it!
Thinking of a 4-day vacay next month. Anyone stay at the Riviera Palm Springs or Westin Mission Hills resort? Any other hotel recs?
Other than lounging at the pool, tell me what else there is to do there. Would love some recs for activities, shopping, good spas, and places to eat.
Thanks!
Re: Palm Springs, tell me all about it!
We stayed at the JW Marriot in Palm Desert, it was great. Spent a day at Joshua Tree. There's also a tram, we didn't do it but it looks pretty cool. Didn't do any shopping or spas (I was there for a work conference and didn't have much free time). DH played golf.

Ate at LG's Steakhouse and Las Consuelas (can't link, for some reason it's blocked at work)

I've been to the Palm Springs area a few times. I've stayed at La Quinta, Westin Mission Hills (villa side) and Westin Desert Willow. If you want a kitchen and the amenities of a villa, I would recommend Desert Willow over Mission Hills, though Mission Hills has a lot more resort amenities (spa, more restaurants). If you stay at Desert Willow, you do have full access to Mission Hills and get discounts at the spa. The reason i liked Desert Willow more is because it is newer and not quite as big. It is still partially under construction, but they are all separate buildings. Both MH and DW have grills at each building, which allows you to go grocery shopping (we love Jensen's though a bit pricey) and you can stock up on food and beverages.
If you can swing La Quinta, it's know for it's spa and is very high end.

I just stayed at the Riviera recently because we had a $50 deal. It was great. I can post pics for you when I get home. Cool, retro, and roomy.
That being said, I wouldn't waste a four-day vacation on Palm Springs because I don't think it's all that special, interesting, or fun. I know you like to get out and do stuff. You are adventurous. I really think Palm Springs would bore theshit out of you.
We went for one night because (1) we can drive there, (2) we had a cheap hotel room, and (3) my mom lives relatively nearby and we met her for outlet shopping.
Aside from these factors, the only other time I ever go to Palm Springs is for Coachella.
It is a place where old people go to die.
Seriously.

Hmmm, for some reason I've lost interest in hitting up PS... can we just move the Riviera somewhere else though? haha, thanks for the heads up
