Re: Vegas?
Just got back two months ago (see ticker for Exhibit A)
If you like the Beatles you should see Love. We went and it was amazing. That is the only Cirque show we saw (unfortunately) but I've heard good things about all of them.
I suggest using the bus for the strip. it's much more convenient than the monorail (IMO) and will take you to Freemont Street. You may want to be there at night so you can see the light show. We missed it.
I had a friend go to the Pawn Shop from that show and she said it was "okay" but there was a long wait when she went.
Oh and definitely play the Sex and the City slots and Ghostbusters slots! SO fun!
bahahah.
Hahahahaha what happens in Vegas doesn't stay there!!!
I was just there with some of my girls in August and we had a blast! Ditto Fremont St, we went there one night and took a zipline across the whole thing - SO fun! I think one night was enough though, it is fun but you go once and that's enough for me
How long are you going for and where are you staying? We had an amazing dinner at RM Seafood at Mandalay. If you watch Top Chef/ TC Masters, it is Rick Moonen's restaurant and is all sustainable seafood
We went to the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Bar at Planet Hollywood - that was fun. My friends rode the bull and it was a fun laidback bar
There is also a nice loungey bar at the top of Mandalay (I think it is called Mixx). Mandalay is at the end of the strip, so from the balcony at the top you get a great view. I have an album on FB from our trip
Have fun! We are doing Vegas as a girls trip every other year, I don't even gamble but have so much fun there
ETA - forgot to mention that none of us are into shows, so we didn't go to any

The advertising for The Cosmopolitan is working on me, I'm dying to go there.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
We went for thanksgiving this year... ps sober knocked up vegas is kinda annoying.
anyway, we stayed at the planet hollywood. its attached to a mall. just about every casino/hotel on the strip has a fancy pancy mall now. they are fun to walk thru.
i really just like walking the strip at night and staring at the people and lights.
there is an outdoor cafe at paris paris mon ami gambi that has great brunch and again is nice to be outside people watching and whatnot.
i dont really do the shows, but have done a cirque de soleil or two. you can get half price or really cheap tickets on ebay or at the ticket stands while you are there. legit real tickets too. they have some dinner tickets for 1/2 price too.
if you like steak and have $$$ craft at mgm was really good - tom collichios joint.
had 'drinks' at the cosmopolitan - they have a lounge that overlooks the strip - its nice.
I just went the first week in January. I stayed at the Cosmopolitan, it was wonderful. Their Chandelier Bar was awesome, we spent a lot of time there.
We saw several shows. Jersey Boys, Love & O (both cirque shows) and lastly Vegas, The Show. We had a lot of fun at all of them.
I second taking the bus over the monorail and definitely going to Freemont St. The light show in the evening was really cool.
One of my favorite places we ate at was Mon Ami Gabi (underneath Paris) it was delicious. They had a really nice wine menu, great appetizers, and everyones entrees were wonderfully prepared.
Have fun!
I went in Oct 2010, so not exactly "recent". My tip is to check Groupon, Livingsocial and the like for restaurant deals! We ended up having a great dinner at BOA steakhouse in Ceasar's Palace on the terrace overlooking the strip. It was awesome.
Also, the most fun DH and I had that whole trip was the day that we took a cab up to the top of the strip (we were staying at the Luxor, down at the south end) and got ourselves a couple of Yards and were total tourists. We hotel hopped, took tons of pictures, gambled at a few on the way. We had the best day that day and tied on a nice day load, which is always fun on vacation.
Have so much fun! I can't wait to go back!
We stopped by the Cosmopolitan when we went and thought it was sort of douchey (even tho i love the commercials!) BUT there is a hard to find pizza place in the hotel-on the third floor. We loved it because it was east coast style pizze, which probably is not much of a novelty for you.

For steak, we go off the strip and go to the Golden Steer. Awesomeness. Totally old school leather booths. Love it love it love it. http://goldensteersteakhouselasvegas.com/
Also, BC flight lines are an amazing experience-DH did it last year when I was pregnant and we did it together in August. I was terrified at first, but ended up LOVING it.

My heart just stopped 3 seconds into this video. So cool but beyond scary!
