Anytime Fitness?

Has anyone been a member at this gym? I called to ask about membership rates and they make you come in for a free workout before they give out the information- smart sales move since your more likely to sign up once you're there but I want to know if it's in my price range before I go. And the fact that they won't give me the info over the phone annoys me!

I'm not familiar with them, but wow!, that's an obnoxious policy. I would be annoyed and looking elsewhere.

Weird. I'm a member at one and they're pretty laid back in person. We wandered in though because it's within walking distance from our house. Our membership is around $65 total for 2 ppl (I'm not sure the exact amount off the top of my head). I like it. It's clean, newer, and not overly busy which is nice. Individual tvs on the cardio machines is cool. It's nothing super fancy, but it's great for the average person looking to work out. I also like that you're not locked in, and can cancel at any time. A lot of those fitness places makes me leery. There was just a story on the news the other day that a place was taking money out of a ladies account for a membership she didn't sign up for. She went once or twice but didn't sign the contract and realized she wouldn't go that much. An empoloyee forged her signature.

I think Anytime is a little more legit than that place, but if there were any red flags, I wouldn't bother and it sounds like there are some red flags.

Are they indivudally owned? Maybe each location has different practices. I would pop in some afternoon in regular clothes and ask if they have any printed information. Tell them you were out and about and wanted to stop by quickly to pick up the info.

They are individually owned.

I used to be a member and really enjoyed going to the one I was a member at. I was at the Plainfield location. I only left b/c I moved further than I was willing to drive.

I should also add that if you have a Snap Fitness close to you that you check them out.

thanks everyone for the comments. I checked out snap fitness too and there are two locations that are closer to my house and they have their pricing online, lol. So I think i'll check them out first and see if I like it!
