currants??
if a recipe calls for 3tbsp currants, what does that mean? what is a currant?

Currants are a small fruit - smaller than a grape. (they may actually be of the grape family)
Dried currents look like raisins.

In the substitution book Amanda got me for Christmas it says:
you can substitute ground cherries, gooseberries or sour cherries for fresh currants and raisins, soft prunes or dates finely chopped for dried currants.

It also has a section on how to fix kitchen disasters - (i.e., added to much of something) and a households formula section about making your own cleaning supplies/stain removers, etc..
