This hour's update:
They've countered. It's only $5,000 more than what we initially offered. So, now we have a decision to make. Do we split the difference and counter? Or do we accept?
I'll keep you posted.
Re: A Play-by-Play Update!
They went with the transformer house.
Audra, yaaaaay! That's not too bad of a counter!
The house with the transformer in the backyard. But it's not really a transformer, it's an AT&T box.
Here's the link.
It was the second house she posted the other day :-)
And that's exciting. We countered our counter when we bought

Yay! That's not terrible at all! You should figure out how much more the $5000 would add to your mortgage payment. We figured it out when we got an offer and the difference in the monthly mortgage payment was a few dollars or something silly like that.
They picked the Transformer house Hydrangea.

Being the math nerd that I am, I have spreadsheets. And I think my spreadsheets have spreadsheets.
The difference is $20/month. It's not that much.
But you could have that difference be $10.
Haha I'm just kidding.
I guess I would base my decision on whether or not it seems there are other people interested. I believe you said it's been on the market for over a year, so I bet they'll split the difference unless they're being cranky.
I agree with you, Audra. If they have another house, they're not going to let a measley $2,500 get in the way of selling their old one. I'd say split the difference

I loved that house! Actually both of the houses on your list were beautiful!
I guess I missed the post where you gave us your final decision. Thanks for getting me up to date everyone! & good luck!
(this reminds me of an episode of "my first place" or whatever that show is called!)
Ditto!
I also agree with this. What a cute house!

Thats not a bad counter. When we bought our house they countered us about $5,000 more than we offered as well. We accepted because it was an auction house and it was the last day before the auction and we were afraid to lose it. Otherwise we would have countered back.
Good luck. Its so exciting
