PIP: Another Pinterest Inspired Project
I lusted after this for months and had decided to make it for my friend but just got up the nerve to try it. It was surprisingly not difficult as I thought it might be (The writing, using the ink).
Background story: This was her DH's favorite quote and when he passed away, she had it printed on the back of the funeral card. I am giving this to her for her birthday on Saturday.

I am so happy how it turned out, I think I am going to make one for my daughter with the lyrics to her wedding song.

Right? I was going to say that but, I didn't want anyone to think I am a b!tch making her cry. Besides, it's been almost 4 years so she has accepted things. I think she will love it.

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."

It's really quite easy. Just use fabric marker (I used Tea Juice, purchased from Dharma Trading Co) and write on the scarf. Be sure to put something under it (marker runs/bleeds) and allow to dry completely before moving or touching. When dry, heat set it by ironing on high for 2-3 minutes using a press cloth (I used a piece of muslin).
I soaked it today, to get out scorch marks (probably only seen by me) and it came out perfectly; no bleeding. I can't wait to make one for my daughter!

What a great idea! I love that the words are actually kind of hidden once you wrap it up. She can have the message with her like it's her little secret. I think that would be comforting. They become a beautiful texture visually, too.
I have a couple of leftover white pashmina wraps from my wedding that I might just have to try this with! Thanks for sharing!
