So a couple of weeks ago*, Connor started having accidents both at night and during the day. Pretty much every day for the last three weeks, he's peed himself at least once, sometimes more. This is after being completely potty trained and not even wearing pull ups to bed. This morning about 5 am he had an accident. I sent him to the bathroom and when he peed some more he complained that it hurt.
*Around that time he started taking lamisil for toenail fungus, but the doctor assured me the two were unrelated when I called a few days ago.
So what's going on here? Is my kid just torturing me by pissing all over himself? (I know this embarrasses him because he tries to hide it). Does he have a UTI? I'm at my wits end here.
Re: Dr / Parent Re
Do you think he's crying wolf about it hurting? Is he peeing a lot when he does go? I'd just take him in to the Dr. to be sure.
Maybe I don't have a heightened sense of smell, but I've never smelled any vagina on my pants. -- TSD

We went to the doctor, and left with no real answers. The doctor said he might be constipated (even though he poops daily) or perhaps the tip of his peen is irritated. He said we could put vaseline on it for a few days to see if that helps.
I know how that story gets re-told at daycare. Yikes.
ETA: He didn't actually say if they tested for UTI and got a negative, but he did mention protein in his urine and that they could send it off to the lab for testing, but weren't going to do that just yet.
Yeah, even though it was happening both during the day and at night, I assumed it was psychological in nature until he said it hurt to pee. In fact, he said there were spikes in his wiener, so I thought that warranted a trip to the doctor.
I hate that you leave the doctor with no real idea of what's wrong always.
