Reviews on El Dorado Casitas Royale please :)

We are leaning towards booking this place for vacation in Nov.  Thanks!

Re: Reviews on El Dorado Casitas Royale please :)

  • We've been there twice and plan on returning in the very near future.  Funny, I was just referring this resort to my best friend this morning.  She is pretty high-maintenance and I didn't want to recommend a Mexican AI that she was going to be disappointed with because I would never hear the end of it.  Lol.
Anyway, we always book during hurricane season rather than peak months just to keep the cost down some.  The swim-up casitas are wonderful because the lazy river is right outside your veranda and that leads to the swim-up bar making getting a yummy cocktail pretty simple.  This side of the resort is very private and you will most likely share your pool with less than a dozen couples.  There are several different restaurants including Japanese sushi, fondue and Italian.  And because the grounds are extensive, a small tram is available every 15 minutes or so to escort you to a destination. This is wonderful if you're wearing heels or just plain lazy.  There is also 24 hour room service if you need an evening in or have over-indulged on the adult beverages. The staff is exceptional and go out of their way to accommodate any requests.  I'm fairly certain that they knew our names by the third day and what our favorite drinks were.  We do tip a lot because it is much appreciated but it is never expected.  The casitas themselves are quite large, comfortable and very clean.  The outdoor shower is a nice touch too.  We used the spa on several occasions and were happy with the services.  My husband even left his wedding ring in the spa restroom and hotel security returned it promptly.  All in all, I think this resort is one of the best in all of Mexico.  I believe it is ranked in the top 100 in the world recently in Conde Nast travel magazine.  Maybe we'll see you there next fall...

  • Ditto everything PP said. We didn't stay in a casita, but we will the next time.  Although, I can't imagine how EDR can get any better!  Loved every single thing about our HM there.  :)
