Long story hopefully short...
I got a letter in the mail a few weeks ago addressed to a name I had never heard of (not the previous owners) and it didn't look like junk mail. I typically throw away obvious junk mail that isn't addressed to me (doesn't everyone?).
I put the letter back in the mail with a note on it saying: wrong address. The letter came back to me a few days later. I put it BACK in the mail with wrong address underlined. It came back to me again today. F it. I opened it to see what it was. Otherwise, it was going in the trash.
It was a party invitation with an RSVP name and email. So I emailed her. I told her the situation, told her that I don't think they ever lived here, told her I didn't want her to be waiting on an RSVP from these people that she won't get, told her to enjoy the party, and apologized for what may be a creepy email.
BF thinks I am BSC.
I mean, it was a surprise 30th bday party (close to my age), Richmond is THE SMALLEST CITY EVER (so I have to assume we have far fewer than 6 degrees of separation), and I would want to know if I had the wrong address for someone...
oops? or no big deal?
ETA: She just wrote back and said:
Haha...Thank you so much for letting me know! This could have cause a family feud if they thought they were left out! I will get in touch w/them asap. Thank you so much for letting me know!
Win.
Re: NSOR WWYD *Updated*
I would, and have, done this in the past.
Yeah it is...but I thought throwing it away was also (illegal).
oops.
Good point. Although, it didn't have a return address on it, which may be why the post office kept sending it back to me.
Ah ha! Good to know--thanks!
